Welcome to Ibn-ul-farooq blogpost !

Today we are going to tell you the story of an African king who is considered to be the richest man in human history

Friends, in Islamic history, there have been many rulers whose stories are told to our generations  Some of these rulers became famous for their power and others for their generosity  Today we are going to tell you the story of an African king who is considered to be the richest man in human history  Ruling over an empire of over five hundred thousand square miles The generosity of the king was such that wherever he passed, he would give very valuable gifts to the people During his stay in Egypt, this king distributed so much gold that its price lowered

  1. Who was this richest Muslim king?
  2.  Which countries were included in his empire?
  3.  What is the estimation of their wealth in today's era?

In this blog we will know all that. Friends, the king we are talking about is known in history as Mansa Musa  There are different opinions about the year in which he was born according to some sources it was 1280 AD  Musa was the king of Mali from 1312 to 1337 AD. 1:32 Under his rule, Mali Empire became the richest empire of that time

Kingdom of Mali during the reign of Musa stretched from the Atlantic Ocean to the Niger River  The Sahara desert and many forests of Africa were part of this empire. It included the present-day African countries of Mali, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Niger, Chad, Nigeria, Mauritania, and Burkina Faso  The Mali Empire was actually founded in 1235 by Sunjata, who later became the first king of the empire
Mansa Musa was Sanjata's brother's grandson. Musa was the original name while Mansa was actually used for the king in the local language.

How did Mansa Musa become king?

This is an interesting story. According to some legends, the throne of Mali was held by Abu Bakr before Musa. However, Ibn Khaldun has written in his writings that the king of Mali at that time was Ibn Qu  Friends, this king once set out on a voyage across the Atlantic Ocean  before he left he visited Musa and entrusted him with the kingdom in his absence However, unfortunately he could not turn back, Mansa Musa took over the throne in his absence.  And became the 9th king of the empire  Friends, all the kings of Mali Empire before Musa were actually descended from Sanjata,  and so far Sanjata's descendents was the line of succession but this was the first time that the throne had passed to the line of Sanjata's brother, Musa.
Some historians also say that Mansa Musa himself killed this king. A major reason for the wealth of the Mali Empire was the gold, salt, and other precious deposits found here, which were in great demand all over the world and profited greatly from their sale

The Journey of Hajj

The most famous and popular story of Mansa Musa's era is the journey of Hajj. It is said that Musa had started preparing for this Hajj for many years . This caravan was wonderful that the attention of the whole world had been drawn towards this king of Mali. Let's know about this journey in detail. Thousands of slaves were purchased from the surrounding areas for this journey. The early period of Musa' reign was spent in clashes with non-Muslim populations  As a result, the Mali Empire had expanded further, twenty-four more cities had come under Musa's control.  Due to which Mansa Musa's fame and fear had spread in the surrounding countries.  In 1324, he himself set out on the Hajj journey, giving temporary control of the kingdom to his son  Friends, sixty thousand people were included in this grand caravan,  who wore precious dresses of brocade and beautiful Persian silk, twelve thousand slaves were also with them.
Each slave was holding a gold brick weighing four pounds, or about two kilograms They were wearing expensive silk clothes. Other people were also a part of this caravan whose responsibility was to protect the travel luggage. The goods also included thousands of bags filled with gold and silver  According to historians, 80 camels were in this caravan. Each camel was loaded with up to one hundred and thirty kilograms of gold. The food and drink for all the people and animals of this caravan was responsibility of Mansa Musa Friends, this convoy was worth viewing. From whatever city whatever region he passed through, people would gather to see him Mansa Musa used to give gold and other valuable gifts to the people he passed by.
Every Friday, he would built a mosque when this caravan stopped in Cairo, they stayed near the Pyramids of Egypt for three days Egypt was ruled by the Mamluk Sultan Al-Nasser Muhammad at that time. They both met. The mamluk sultan wanted him to bow befor him, since Musa had come to their territory for the first time But Musa did not. But friends, since it was a custom of the time, therefore Mus had to do it anyway  Later, gifts were also exchanged between the two After that Mansa Musa met Governor of Qarafa Ibn Amir Hijab.
He stayed in Cairo for three months. Musa distributed so much gold that the price of gold in Egypt fell.  According to a famous Arab historian Al-Umari, he went to Cairo twelve years after this journey of Musa  and the people here were still praising Musa. Even after twelve years, the price of gold had not increased. The news of Musa's wealth and king's wealth had now reached Europe. Musa reached Makkah along with his companions, some of the people in his caravan got into a fight with a group from Turkey  It came down to swords and fighting to the death.  He immediately ordered his people to end this conflict due to which blood could not be spilled on the holy land.
It is also recorded in history that Mansa Musa had lost a lot of his supplies on the return journey  Many people lost their lives due to fever. This journey of Hajj lasted for more than a year. On his way back, Musa met an Andalusian poet, Abu Ishaq al-Sahili. whose knowledge and the language greatly impressed Musa and he brought this poet with him to Mali. According to Ibn Khaldun, at the end of this journey, many cities joined the Mali Empire, Some cities were captured by the army of the Mali Empire Timbuktu was included among them This empire of Moses had expanded so much that it would take one year to travel from one part to other on foot
Musa also established good relations with other Muslim rulers during this period. Friends, the fame of Mansa Musa and the Kingdom of Mali was already in West Africa  but Mansa Musa was being talked about in North Africa and Europe until he returned from Hajj On his return, he rebuilt the empire. Architects were invited from Andalusia, Spain and Cairo. Big buildings and mosques were built in Gao and Timbuktu  They were decorated with gold, silver and precious stones
He also built a magnificent Islamic university in Timbuktu, where scholars from all over the world came  Books were ordered from all over the world and kept in this university. Mali empire got famous all over the world  This kingdom was developing, the economy was stable, people were prosperous People migrated from their countries and came here and settled here. About four hundred cities were part of the Mali Empire at that time Timbuktu was the empire's commercial, cultural, and it had become an Islamic center. Traders from all over the world used to come here. With all this, Islam also got a lot of popularity and brotherhood was established in Islamic countries. The Mali empire had become a symbol of wealth and prosperity throughout the world

Death of Musa

Musa died at the age of 57, in 1337 Musa was the king of the Mali Empire for twenty-five years. It was the golden period of this empire

Mansa Musa net worth

Musa' total wealth was estimated although it is very difficult  However, according to an American website celebrity net worth, Musa's net worth was close to four hundred billion US dollars as of today  Friends, in today's world, Elon Musk's net worth is around 270 billion dollars while Jeff Bezos is 153 billion dollars That is, Mansa Musa was many times richer than today's richest person. No specific reason for Moses' death could be revealed  After that his son took over this kingdom. But friends, they could not protect him  The Mali Empire slowly began to crumble, trade ceased. The era of prosperity was over
And finally the Europeans conquered it. It is said that if the Europeans had attacked this kingdom during the time of Musa, they would never have succeeded in front his military force. The famous traveler Ibn-i Batuta visited here in 1354 and admired the culture of these people In the 16th century, the Mali Empire collapsed and it remained only a country, which we still call Mali today Timbuktu and Gao are still part of Mali today. The Islamic University founded in Timbuktu still exists today and is a beautiful monument to the golden age of the Mali Empire Apart from this, some of the mosques built by Musa are still there today. Mansa Musa changed the fortunes of Mali during his reign. Moses also played a role in bringing the Islamic world closer together. But unfortunately his empire fell after him Did you like to know today about the richest person in history - and a well-known ruler of the Muslim world? Let us know in the comments.
